Cannons 2022 Fall Baseball Program
Cannons Fall teams play either a tournament schedule or league games in the Greater Hudson Valley Baseball League. All teams also practice 1-2 times per week. Age groups will be determined based on players who register and commit to the season.
The Cannons will field teams at each level where sufficient number of players register - including a 13u team for players coming out of Cal Ripken/Thunder for the first time. In the fall, teams play in their Spring 2022 age group.
Tryout information will be posted soon. Players and families will be contacted regarding their team assignment in late August.
Registration is open now. Players on 2022 Cannons summer rosters are given first priority for fall teams. Once we have firm commitments from Cannons families, invitations can be extended to additional players interested in the program.
To ensure the season is a success, we will require full commitment and payment from at least 13 players per team.
Commitment Expectations:
The Cannons always tries to be as flexible as possible with our families. We support and endorse kids playing multiple sports and pursuing as many passions as possible.
Cannons policy is that Cannons events must take priority over other sports that season. If a player will be in a position where he can attend baseball events only when they don't conflict with other sports, then we encourage you to focus on the other sport. Players can play other sports, but Cannons events must take priority.
During prior fall seasons when players have tried to participate in other sports it has been extremely challenging to field a complete team for practices, games, and tournaments. Kids also become more fatigued, and tend to develop injuries more frequently.
In fairness to everyone, especially the other players, we ask that you make a full commitment to your Cannons team. We must avoid situations where a player is forced to choose one practice or game over another - making it difficult for coaches of both sports to manage lineups with a part-time player.
The Cannons is a serious baseball experience. Practices are fast-paced. In addition to skill development, Coaches teach all aspects of the game - proper cutoffs, bunt defenses, holding runners on base, effective leading and stealing, defensive positioning, bullpen work for pitchers and catchers, fielding preparation and execution for infielders, and much more. All of this education and training is not possible if players miss practice due to conflicts with other sports. Needless to say, you cannot practice bunt defense if your first and third basemen are not at practice.
Fee for the fall program is determined based on roster size. Fees cover tournament fees, coaches salaries and travel, Greenwich field usage fees, insurance, baseballs, uniform and umpire costs.
